Run! It’s Godzilla! Sorry, I couldn’t resist. The latest Godzilla movie is directed by Gareth Edwards, who also directed 2010’s Monsters. The movie has a wonderful cast, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick Ass 1 and 2) and Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) , just to name a few.
The story is that of a soldier who is called to his father’s aid when he arrested for being in a no travel zone where a nuclear plant exploded, killing the soldier’s mother when he was a child. When a giant moth hatches in the zone all hell breaks loose. The soldier scrambles to find a way to get back to his family in San Francisco, joining military missions along the way.
I’m glad that Edwards decided to make Godzilla look and act more like the original beast. The movie looked great, save for one thing. Half of the battles were so dark you could barely see the action. I’ll never understand why some film makers do this. You would think after investing a ton of money and time in a project, they would want you to be able to see it.
I would definitely recommend this movie. Godzilla is now available on DVD and Netflix.
