‘The Haunted Mansion’, based on the ride at Disney parks, by the same name, has been talking about a reboot for a while, it  seems that a new movie is now finally going into pre-production. It seems Disney has roped in Guillermo del Toro , the entertainment genius behind ‘The Strain’, ‘Pans’s Labyinth’, ‘Hellboy’ and ‘Crimson Peak’, for the project. D.V. DeVincentis is writing the new script for ‘The Haunted Mansion’, which has already signed ‘Gangster Squad’ and ‘The Notebook’ actor Ryan Gosling for a role in the new film.

Del Toro has already made the statement that this won’t be a children’s movie like the previous version. Del Toro had this to say about the movie: ‘If you take the children, they’ll scream.”  There is no word yet when the spooky movie might be released.

For those of you who don’t know, ‘The Haunted Mansion’ was first released seven years ago starring Eddie Murphy, Marsha Thomason, Jennifer Tilly, Terence Stamp, Nathaniel Parker and Wallace Shawn. The movie follows a family on the way to their vacation. The father, a real estate agent, stops to meet a potential seller of a sprawling mansion, but the owner has a hidden motive. The real estate agent’s wife is a dead ringer for the woman he lost hundreds of years ago and he believes that she is the reincarnation of his Elizabeth. The family begins to notice increasingly  strange events. The children urge their father that their mother is in danger and that they need to escape the haunted mansion with the help of a few ghosts.
