‘The Encounter’ was both written and directed by Robert Conway. Conway is also know for his films ‘Redemption’ (2009) and 2013’s ‘Exit to Hell’  starring Kane Hodder.

When a park ranger, played by Eliza Kiss, learns that something has crashed deep inside the park, she goes to find out what has landed. When she approaches the scene she sees something very strange, a ship possibly, but before she can explore the wreck she is stung by a very usual plant object and rushes back to her post to get help. At the same time a group of four friends are setting up there tents for a weekend of camping and two hunters are entering the woods on a mission to find their next meal. The health of the park ranger is quickly declining and sores are spreading across her body. The groups are in serious danger as other worldly beings begin to hunt them down one by one. Who will survive the night?

The ‘X-Files’ meets ‘The Blair Witch Project’ in ‘The Encounter’. This movie is half alien abduction story and half horror. Practical FX are king in this found-footage flick. I was most impressed with the acting of Eliza Kiss, she really sells her role. ‘The Encounter’ did not have a huge budget but they accomplished their message well. When the victims in this movie begin to mutate it’s creepy and the makeup was on point. Odds are, even if you’re not a fan of alien movies, you will still enjoy ‘The Encounter’.
