Fifteen years after the Salem Witch trials, a young woman begins to show signs of possession in’Salem Village’. Desperate for the truth, the town’s elders put their faith in a man of science to uncover the cause of what is happening in Salem and to find a way to end the terrifying events that are plaguing the town.
This gritty possession thriller is already being compared to ‘The Witch’, a film that has yet to be released, but is acclaimed by critics.
‘Salem Village’ was penned by Richard and Mark Bianculli and will be distributed by STX Entertainment. The film is now in early preproduction, but there is no word yet who might direct or star in the film. David Gelb (The Lazarus Effect) was at one point listed as director, but has since moved on to other projects, leaving the film in search of a director.
