18 year-old horror blogger Ashlee Martinson, a horror blogger that went under the name “Vampchick” committed the unthinkable, she shot and killed her stepfather just before stabbing her mother over 30 times, all while her young siblings were locked in a bedroom. The day after the crime, on March 8,2015, she was charged with two-counts of first degree murder, but plead “not responsible due to mental defect”. Friday she struck a plea deal. The prosecutors plan to recommend she serves 40 years in prison. Her lawyer is asking for an eight year sentence.
Martison claims that the murder was triggered after years of abuse at her stepfathers hands. An expert interviewed Martison and said that she suffers from severe depression and PTSD due to the violence she experienced, and the abuse she witnessed her mother, siblings, and family pets receive at the hands of her stepfather.
According to police Martison was a self-described “horror addict” and wrote the blog titled “Nightmare”.
This young woman had a hard life and mental problems, but someone will blame this on horror, they always do, and that’s ridiculous.
