It’s that time of year again, when couples everywhere are getting married or engaged. Let’s face it, our social media feeds are full of the same old sappy engagement photos of couples holding hands and looking lovingly into each other eyes. Shi Jaramillo and Patrick Reetz from Austin, Texas have done things a little different, with awesome results.

Last night I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed when a unique photo, by Asha Poyzer, caught my eye. It was a cute couple…dragging a body through the woods. I looked closer and saw the next photo was of the couple sitting on a blanket looking sweetly at each other, covered in blood. I thought to myself “How awesome is this? I must talk to these people.” I had to know the story behind these unique engagement photos. So, I reached out to Shi and she quickly responded.

“We wanted something unorthodox. He’s a physical therapist and he teaches anatomy. I am a lover of horror. We figured what is more crazy, loyal and trusting than helping someone hide a body.”

“We were in Costa Rica. We went to dinner at this restaurant, literally up a mountain overlooking the ocean. After dinner we went for a walk The pool was beautiful and had these swinging beds. I went to sit down and he was on one knee. He asked. I asked if this was really happening. Hugged him and then he asked again haha.”

Not only are the engagement photos unique, the theme carries over to the wedding, with a “Will you help us hide the bodies?” motif.  Get this, the RSVP line is “Number of accomplices” instead of the normal “number of guests”. Don’t you just love it? The wedding, set for September, 11th of this year, will be a one the bride, the groom and the guests will never forget.

We wish Shi and Patrick a long, happy, love-filled life together.
