Tonight, we get our first look at Ezekiel, the dread-wearing king of The Kingdom and his beloved pet tiger Shiva. So, who is Ezekiel? Let us fill you in.

In the comic, we first meet Ezekiel in comic 108. He is the leader of a group settled into an abandoned high school, known as The Kingdom. The Kingdom is a lot like the Hill Top, but bigger. And like the Hill Top, The Kingdom also has a deal with Negan and the Saviors.

Ezekiel, also referred to as “King Ezekiel”, has been described as charismatic, flamboyant, optimistic and friendly, yet at the same time, he is proud man, who never wants to be seen as weak. Originally from Washington D.C., he comes from a theatrical background. Before the zombie apocalypse Ezekiel worked as a zookeeper, that’s where he got his lovely tiger, Shiva. He raised her from a cub. Shiva helps carry out certain missions for Ezekiel and serves as his protector. Ezekiel is also a good friend of Jesus’ (Tom Payne).

After Carol was assaulted and shot in the season 6 finale she and Morgan were rescued by two of Ezekiel’s men and brought back to The Kingdom. In tonight’s episode, ‘The Well’, Morgan will be bringing Carol to meet Ezekiel, but from the look on their faces in the sneak peek, they both have doubts about their new hosts.
