The first trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars is finally here! The film, from Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment, is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on January 6, 2017,
Kate Beckinsale is returning to her role as the vampire Selene. Theo James will once again co-star as David, Selene’s ally. The vampire Elder Thomas will be played by Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance, once again. Tobias Menzies (Outlander) will be joining the film as a new character, a formidable Lycan. Other new cast members include Bradley James (Damien), James Faulkner (Game of Thrones), Peter Andersson (The Vatican Tapes), Daisy Head (Fallen) and newcomer Clementine Nicholson.
After centuries of fighting, the battle between lycans and vampires is coming to a peak. The council believes only one vampire, Selene, can win the war. Her blood holds a secret that change the tides of war. The trailer reveals that the battle has become intense and Selene is ready to end it once and for all. We see flashes of previous Underworld films and glimpses of characters from the past.
Anna Foerster is in the director’s chair for the fifth installment of the franchise. Foerster has directed several television shows including Outlander and Criminal Minds, but is most recognized for her talent as a cinematographer for films such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, Pitch Black and White House Down. The screenplay was penned by Cory Goodman (The Last WitchHunter, Preist) and is based on characters created by Len Wiseman, Kevin Grevioux and Danny McBride.
David Kern (Underworld: Awakening), Richard S. Wright (Underworld), Len Wiseman (Underworld) and Lakeshore’s Tom Rosenberg will be producing.
