Universal’s Remake Of The Wolf Man Finds New Writer

Universal Studios announced today that ‘Expendables’ scribe Dave Callaham will rewrite the script, originally penned by Aaron Guzikowski, for their remake of the 1941 film ‘The Wolf Man’, according to THR.

‘The Wolf Man’ is just one of the original Universal films to be getting a remake. The films will all be part of a new shared universe. ‘The Mummy‘, starring Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe, will open in theaters on June 9th, 2017. Universal will also be remaking ‘The Invisible Man’, ‘Frankenstein’, ‘Bride of Frankenstein‘,’ The Creature From the Black Lagoon‘, ‘Dracula’, and others. Johnny Depp has already signed on to star in the new ‘Invisible Man’.

Alex Kurtzman, who directed the new ‘Mummy’ film, will over see the new Universal monster films along with Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious). Both Kurtzman and Morgan also be serving as producers for ‘The Wolf Man’.

The 1941 original ‘The Wolf Man’ film was directed by George Waggner and starred Lon Chaney Jr., Bela Lugosi, and Claude Rains. In the film a man returns to his homeland and is attacked by a creature of folklore. He is infected with a horrific disease the he can’t accept exists.
