Today, I spoke with actor-producer Kyle Hester. Hester is a busy man.  He has three genre films on the way, ‘The Chair’, Zombie With A Shotgun’ and ‘Preacher Six’, which is currently running an Indiegogo campaign.

Horror Fuel: “Tell us about your role as Bowen in The Chair, if you will.”

KH: “I saw a post on my friend Ezra Buzzington’s FaceBook page, he plays Tudley. It looked amazing so I sent my reel to Peter. I play one of the guards along with Roddy Piper. I was brought in as an actor, but ended up producing as well. I was asked to produce. I have a lot of connections and Peter kept asking me where to get this and that so I said yes. I told him, “Let’s make your vision happen’. The Chair is in theaters now. You can go to Tugg.com and if enough people ask, they will come to your town.”

Horror Fuel: “Can you tell us about your character in Hilton Ariel Ruiz’s ‘Zombie With A Shotgun’?”

KH: “Z.W.S.G. is a new twist on zombies. In the film zombies are protected, it’s a sickness. I play the ex-sheriff turned bounty hunter. I’m trying to track down the original infected zombie. It was a lot of fun. I believe that is the first zombie film set in New York.

Horror Fuel: “You’ve been busy, not only are you in both The Chair and Zombie With A Shotgun, you are both producing and starring in Preacher Six, what is it about?”

KH: “I am playing the title role of Father Josh, who is Preacher Six. My character is from a small town and summoned to L.A. I find out that I am about to fight evil, in the literal sense. It’s Grind House with a lot of demon killing.

It has a real Quentin Tarantino vibe. Right now Preacher Six is running an Indiegogo campaign. We are looking for $140,000. It’s critical to filming. We want to start filming in April and have it out by by Halloween. This is happening. It’s just a matter of when. If the Indiegogo is successful it will happen sooner. My wife co-wote it with Tracy Ray. Grady Earls is directing and doing all the graphics. He’s prolific. It’s like Sin City meets Taxi Driver meets The Prophecy. I know people are sick of reboots and remakes. ”

Horror Fuel: “You play a wide range when it comes to the type of films you star in. Do you have a favorite type of role?”

KH: ” You know, I think I like to play characters with higher stakes. The higher the stakes the better. I don’t like to play middle of the role characters. Give me something I can sink my teeth into and the chase is on.

Horror Fuel: “What film has influenced you the most?”

KH: “The Shining, it was the first film that really drew me in. It really took me to another place, another level. There are no weak links in that film.”

Horror Fuel: “Are you working on any other projects?”

KH: Yes, The Coop. It is a modern western. Think No Country for Old Men.”

Horror Fuel: “What would be your dream role?”

KH: “It would be something like Neo in The Matrix.”

Horror Fuel: “How did you get into acting?”

KH: “I was in seventh grade. I saw Fame on TV. This guy was dancing and singing on stage and I was like ‘Oh, my God!’ I wanted to do that. I was in drama class in junior high. I auditioned and got into a performing arts school in Texas. I guess you could say it’s been a life long passion.

In ‘The Chair‘ a man struggles to escape a grisly fate on death row. It is an intense story of betrayal, revenge and humanity’s horrifying capacity for evil. Director Chad Ferrin brings to life the script penned by Erin Kohut and Peter Semeti. Hester co-stars along side Bill Oberst Jr., Roddy Piper, Zach Galligan and Naomi Grossman.
