We’ve all seen a film where the CGI went overboard, making the movie look cheap. It’s a shame that practical effects are not used like they once were. They add a since of something real, something tangible.

J.A. Bayona recently told The Hollywood Reporter that ‘Jurassic World 2 ‘will use as many animatronics as possible.

It’s complicated because the audience now is so used to seeing CGI that they’re sometimes reluctant towards animatronics. But at the same time, I think animatronics bring soul and reality to it. We’re trying to find the balance between animatronics in order to cheat the audience so they don’t know what they’re seeing.”

The animatronic dinosaurs is ‘Jurassic Park’ were incredible. They were groundbreaking. They did cause a few issues on the set though. In the scene where the T-Rex comes down on the children in the SUV, almost crushing them, that was real. The dino was so heavy that he fell over on the top of the SUV, knocking out the glass.  It was edited, but the scene stayed in the film.

Production is set to begin early next year on’Jurassic World 2′. Both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be reprising their roles in part 2 which has a title that has not been announced at this point. ‘Wayward Pines’ actor Toby Jones and Rafe Spall (Prometheus) have joined the cast of the sequel.
