Samara returns to the big screen this weekend in ‘Rings’, directed by F. Jaier Gutiérrez, and written by Jacob Aaron Estes, Akiva Goldman and David Loucka, based on the novel by Koji Suzuki.
The trailers and TV spots for ‘Rings’ reveal that Samara’s reach is much larger that it was in the first two films, thanks to the internet, social media, and Youtube.
In the film a young woman becomes concerned about her boyfriend when he delves into the dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher within seven days after he sees it. Willing to sacrifice herself to save him, she makes a horrifying discovery: there is a movie within the movie that no one has seen before…
‘Rings’ stars Alex Roe, Aimee Teegarden, Johnny Galecki, Lauren Wiggins, Zach Roerig, Surely Alvelo, and Bonnie Morgan as Samara.
Universal has released the opening scene from ‘Rings’ and we have it. Two things are revealed in the clip, the first is that Samara and her deadly tape now have a cult following called “The Sevens”. The other thing we learn is that she can now attack a whole group of people.
‘Rings’ arrives in theaters nationwide on February 3, 2017.
