With The Walking Dead’s season 7 finale approaching, you may be asking yourself how much longer will the series run? Well, we can answer that.

Scott Gimple, the hit series’ showrunner, recently appeared at Paleyfest in Los Angeles. While speaking to the crowd about the show’s success, he had this to say about how long the show will run:

We are trying to do twenty years. The comic has certainly done it, and I look forward to every issue.” He went on, “The Simpsons has been on 26, 27 years, so that’s a challenge – so ok, challenge accepted. Done.”

20 years is a long time. Can they truly keep up interest that long? Let’s face it, with fewer people alive and walkers rotting, the number of walkers will dwindle. Meaning, eventually, the show will just be about people rebuilding society. Sure, they will have wars and characters will die, but will that be enough? After a while most of the group that we have grown so attached to will be killed, die, or simply leave.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead, but with numbers and interest already slipping I find it a little hard to believe that AMC would make that big of a commitment. Maybe Gimple was simply talking about the best possible timetable or simply a goal.
What do you think? Will you watch as long the show is on the air or do you draw a line at some point? If Rick, Daryl, Maggie, Carol, and Carl die would you still be interested in the story? Let us know.
