The 1984 original film, directed by Mark L. Lester, tells the story of a couple who participated in a medical experiment and gain telekinetic abilities. The couple, played by David Keith and Heather Locklear, give birth to a daughter (Drew Barrymore) with strong pyrokinetic abilities. After the mother’s death the girl and her father are forced to flee from those who want to harness her power.
