Tonight, Preacher come thundering back with its second season premiere. Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga), and their friend Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), a 119-year-old, alcoholic, Irish vampire, have hit the road to hunt down God.

In the beginning of the episode the trio runs into the law and after a car chase Tulip’s car runs out of gas. Fortunately, Jesse still has control of Genesis, an entity that gives him the power to make people to do what ever he commands. Jesse puts his power to good use, by making the officers carry out activities like holding hands. While the three are entertaining themselves the Saint of Killers opens fire on them all. Of course Jesse and the gang make off in the nick of time. Remember the car breaking down? The used intestines to siphon gas from a cop car. Crazy, right?

Once they are free of the hail of bullets they continue on their way to the home of Jesse’s father’s friend, another priest who happens to be keeping a girl in a cage. The priest gives Jesse the name of a woman who claims she recently met God…at a strip club. Okay, the woman is not actually a stripper. She’s the manager of the place, but thanks to a stray bullet, she dies after only revealing that God came to the club for the music, jazz to be exact. The next stop, Vegas, but that’s in the next episode.
The premiere did not disappoint. It had everything, blood, action, twisted humor, and things went boom. The “Killer of Saints” (Graham McTavish) is a much welcomed addition to the series. His presence adds drama and will lead to a lot of action, two things the series needed. This season is going to be insane. There is no telling what will happen in the next twelve episodes. But I can’t wait to find out.
Tune in for Preacher, Mondays on AMC!
