The musical vein of the horror world has lost a great composer.  Daniel Licht (60) has passed away due to cancer.  While Licht is most known for scoring the music for ‘Dexter’, he has been working steadily on film and TV, and video game music scores since the early ‘90s.

Growing up in Detroit, Licht first found a love of jazz music and focused a great deal of time on the guitar.  He received a composition degree in New Hampshire and travelled around Europe writing music and developing his craft.  After moving to L.A., Licht was noticed by Clive Barker (of Hellraiser fame) and the two worked together on a number of projects.

Licht was fond of using odd items in his music – especially for ‘Dexter’ – such as surgical tools, saws, bones and whatever else created his unique macabre sound.
