Stephen King adaptations are everywhere right now. Unfortunately, not every project inspired the horror genius sees success. While the new adaptation of King’s IT is crushing records at the box office, Spike’s series The Mist is failing. In fact, Spike canceled the series last night after just one season.
The reason the show got the ax, ratings. While the premiere and the brought in 1.2 million, the other episodes topped out at around 800,000 viewers. Viewers will be able to watch season 1 on Netflix come October 24th.
The series’ cast includes Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Washington, Jr. and Frances Conroy.

The Mist centers around a small town and a family who is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends, and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of social breakdown.
