The remake/sequel/bad idea that is “Flatliners” wasn’t met with a warm reception when it was released Friday, getting a 3% on Rotten Tomatoes and a mere $9.8 million worldwide, on a $20 million budget. Include marketing expenses and it looks like “Flatliners” is one of the biggest flops of the year.

While the remake train has slowed down in recent years, this is yet another lesson for Hollywood that audiences don’t want rehashed and underwhelming adaptations of stories we already love. Because seriously, the original “Flatliners” is pretty damn good and can be rented for $3 on Google Play. And you get to watch it from the comfort of your couch while sipping on a beer. So basically, eat it Ellen Page (for the record Ellen Page is a great actress and a wonderful human being, who just needs to make a few better choices in what she decides to star in.)
