Nicolas Pesce is set to write and direct the “reimagining” of 2004’s The Grudge. Today, Variety is reporting that Demian Bichir (Alien: Covenant) and Andrea Riseborough will star.
Birchir recently starred in Alien: Covenant and will play the role of Father Burke in The Conjuring spin-off The Nun.
“Bloodline” actress Andrea Riseborough also appeared in Nocturnal Animals and Birdman.
Sony Pictures Worldwide recently snagged the rights to the film which begins filming this May. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will be producing the film for Ghost House. Nathan Kahane and Erin Westerman will executive produce alongside Schuyler, Roy Lee, and Doug Davidson.

We are so excited about this new adaption,” Raimi stated. “We went back to the original source material to deliver a relentless supernatural thrill ride that explores the horrors of America Suburbia.”

The Grudge itself is a remake of Japan’s Ju-on. Sarah Michelle Gellar starred in the US version that brought in $187.3 million though it had a $10 million budget.
