Asobo Studios and Focus Home Interactive will be taking gamers to Fourteenth-century France during the Black Plague in their upcoming emotionally driven game, “A Plage Tale: Innocence

The story centers on orphaned siblings, Amicia and her little brother Hugo, who are caught up in the middle of the horrors of the Plague as well as the Inquisition, and Hugo is ill with a mysterious illness. To make matters worse, the siblings are being pursued by not only the Inquisitors but by a hoard of deadly rats.

Amicia and Hugo will have to rely on each other as well as other orphans they come across as they venture through French cities, towns, and the countryside to escape the Inquisition and the plague all the while trying to cure Hugo’s illness and solve the mysteries behind the pandemic.

The game will be in third-person the only real weapons Amicia has at her disposal is a trusty slingshot and the creative childish minds of other orphans to help get past Inquisitors or cause them to fall victims to the horde of rats.

The rats (much like during the actual Plague) play a big role during gameplay. The rats are afraid of light and fire which can be used to keep them at bay, but this could attract Inquisitors. In order to avoid being seen by your human foes, players will have to stick to the shadows but by being in the shadows the rats may come for you so it’s safe to say this game will keep you on your toes.

The rats will be coming in 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft.
