Haunting new images are here from Corin Hardy‘s Conjuring 2 spin-off The Nun which opens in theaters next month.
In the film, “a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.”
Starring in The Nun is Oscar-nominee Demian Bichir (A Better Life) as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) as Sister Irene, Jonas Bloquet (Elle) as Frenchie, Charlotte Hope (Game of Thrones) as  Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu (Toni Erdmann) as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons, who is reprising her role as the nun from The Conjuring 2.

It’s a bigger movie in many ways than something like The Hallow, but it’s also a grounded movie in that we’re doing it all for real,” Hardy told Empire. “There’s very little CGI: actually less CGI than even The Hallow. We’re concentrating more on complex choreography and mind-trickery.”

Empire has shared two new images from the film whose set was reportedly haunted according to Hardy. One image shows Father Burke (Bichir) being watched by the evil entity. The other gives us a look at Valak.
The Nun will arrive in theaters on September 7, 2018.
