Henry Cavill Joins Netflix’s ‘Witcher’ Series As Lead

Henry Cavill, who played Superman in Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and Justice League is set to star in Netflix’s adaptation of “The Witcher”.
The story follows Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary monster hunter as he struggles t find his place in the world. When destiny sends him to a powerful sorceress and a young princess with a dark secret, they must learn to navigate the volatile continent together.
Last year we shared the news that Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will serve as executive producer and the series’ showrunner. Variety is reporting that Alik Sakharov, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Charlotte Brändström will direct the eight-episode first season. Sakharov will also be executive producing.
The Witcher began as a series of short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski before becoming a novel. Along with the upcoming series, there is a game franchise as well as comics and tabletop games.
