Movie Review: Queen Dracula (2017)

Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

The long and short of Queen Dracula goes as follows: in a modern day twist on Bram Stoker’s classic, widower Jonathan Harker (Danny Zanelotti) travels to Transylvania and becomes under the spell of Queen Dracula…and imagine the surprise of Jon-boy’s daughters Lucy (Emily Miller) and Mina (Abigail G. Holmes) when they meet their potential new step-mother “D”; a real fang banger that’s out to put the bite on anyone that stands in her way!
I’m not going to mince words…Queen Dracula is one of the most amateur productions I have put my eerie eyeballs on in a damn sight. Filmed on…I don’t rightly know…but I will tell you it has zero cinematography, lighting, professional (or in some cases even competent) acting or special effects (though Q.D.’s contact lenses are cool), this film is absolutely the equivalent of the S.O.V. material you would find on video store shelves in the late 1980’s…and you know what; fucking kudos to Writer/Director Curtis Everitt for going out and getting his film made and released! It’s as imperfect as you can get; but hell, it’s heart is in the right place!
on the weird end of the spectrum…characters in this film swear…and when they do; it’s bleeped out! What in the fuckity fuckin’ fuck?!!
Bottom line; Queen Dracula ain’t great; but it has spirit, and offers a nice twist on the oft-told Dracula tale, so if you are an ultra-forgiving viewer and dig on the bloodsuckers you may want to give it a whirl…
