Back in 1984, the world was introduced to the Ghostbusters. In 1989 we got a sequel. After years of rumors, it looks like fans will finally get to see the men back in action. In fact, according to Dan Aykroyd, star and one of the writers of the original film, there’s a script being written as we speak.
During a new interview, Dan Aykroyd was asked if fans might ever see the sequel whose details were leaked years ago.

There is a possiblity of a reunion with the three remaining Ghostbusters. It’s being written right now…I think Billy will come. The story’s so good. Even if he plays a ghost.”

In the past, the sequel has been held up do to Bill Murray’s reported reluctance to reprise his character Dr. Peter Venkman. So where is the rest of the cast? Unfortunately, Harold Ramis who played Dr. Spengler passed away in 2014. Ernie Hudson who played Winston is still making appearances at conventions and would hopefully be interested in returning.

So what is the sequel about? It allegedly centers on Oscar, the child of Dana (Sigourney Weaver) and Venkman. Rumor is in the movie Oscar takes over the family business after Venkman is killed.
While there was an all-female driven film released in 2016, many fans weren’t happy with it and have insisted that they want a sequel with the original cast. The question is, can Dan Aykroyd finally get Ghostbusters 3 off the ground this time? We sure hope so.
