The trailer has arrived for This Is Our Home – a riveting new psychological thriller created on a micro-indie budget – makes its world premiere at the 2019 Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival, in the event’s Feature Thrills category.
“Jeff Ayars (“Cory”), a viral comedy actor and director turned horror lead, and Simone Policano (“Reina”), a New York City-raised, Yale-educated actress. The unsettling arrival of a mysterious boy, gifted newcomer Drew Beckas (“Zeke”), at Reina’s childhood home throws a nightmarish wrench into their plans for an idyllic, romantic retreat. Perhaps best described by Ayars as “Blue Valentine wrapped in a horror.”
Director Omri Dorani and his cinematographer, Thomas Taugher, “carefully composed and choreographed the film over the course of a non-stop, eleven-day shoot to showcase the on-screen chemistry of Ayars (a fellow Philadelphia-native) and Policano–a couple off-screen. The exhausting into-the-night schedule pushed the stars’ raw chemistry to the limit and was intensified when Ayars underwent an emergency appendectomy just days before shooting.”
The film unfolds from three characters’ perspectives. As the characters reckon with buried feelings, emotional trauma and escalating physical torment amidst claustrophobic spaces, the filmmakers reveal how long-suppressed relationship anxieties come surging up in confinement.
