From the makers of You’re So Cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night and the upcoming documentaries RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop and Pennywise: The Story of IT comes their next horror centered documentary celebrating the career and legacy of Robert Englund.
Titled Icon: The Robert Englund Story, the documentary will delve into Englund’s rise to being one of the biggest names in the genre. Along with Englund, the film will feature many of his co-stars, friends and crew members from his films, including 2001 Maniacs, Urban Legend, Wishmaster, Dead and Buried, Phantom of the Opera, and the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Appearances from icons such as Kane Hodder have been confirmed for the documentary.
If anyone deserves this sort of recognition, then it’s Robert Englund,” writer, co-director and producer Gary Smart stated. “He has been a mainstay of horror cinema for nearly 40-years and without question has risen to the ranks in horror alongside Vincent Price, Peter Crushing, and Christopher Lee. All of us as Cult Screenings are so excited to be celebrating this icon’s career.” Smart continued.
While recognized most for his role as Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, Englund also appeared in the documentary Nightmares in the Makeup Chair which took a look at the behind-the-scenes process Englund went through as Robert Kurtzman transformed him into the scarred villain Freddy Krueger.
Englund will also soon be taking us on a journey through the dark shadows of America’s past as the host of Travel Channel‘s upcoming series “Shadows of History“!
Icon: The Robert Englund Story will kick off its crowdfunding campaign on June 1st. You will find a sneak peek of Icon below from the official Facebook page.
