Jordan Peele‘s Monkeypaw Productions, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, Misha Green, and Warner Bros. Television’s upcoming adaptation of Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel “Lovecraft Country” has had a change in cast. Christina Braithwhite has exited the HBO series and has been replaced by Mad Max: Fury Road actress Abbey Lee.

Jamie Chung and Jordan Patrick Smith have also joined the cast alongside Courtney B. Vance, Wunmi Mosaku, Aunjanue Ellis, and Jamie Harris.

Penned by Green “Lovecraft Country” follows “Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.“

Yann Demange will be directing as well as executive producing the premiere episode. Daniel Sackheim will also executive produce and direct for the series.
