This August, take a trip to “Lovecraft Country,” from Jordan Peele, Misha Green, and J.J. Abrams.

H.P. Lovecraft’s uniquely terrifying world collides with the Jim Crow era south in the new trailer for HBO’s new series “Lovecraft Country.

Based on the novel Matt Ruff, the first season takes viewers on a road trip through the 1950s, where threats of both racism and supernatural terrors loom.

In the series, Atticus Black, his friend Letitia, and his uncle George embark on a road to try to find his missing father. Instead, Atticus is caught in a fight for survival and must overcome the racist terrors of America and terrifying monsters that could have been ripped from the pages of an H.P. Lovecraft novel.

Lovecraft Country” premieres on HBO on August 16th.
