You hear the name, Maisie Williams, and your ears perk up. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know just how talented the “Game of Thrones” actress is. So, as a fan when I heard that Williams was starring in Julius Berg’s new film The Owners I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on a copy. Mission accomplished.

Also starring Sylvester McCoy, Jake Curran, Ian Kenny, Andrew Ellis, and Rita Tushingham, The Owners turns a home invasion horror on its ear. Berg couldn’t have chosen a better cast. They each bring something unique to the table. They’re a perfect fit. Star Sylvester McCoy agrees, he couldn’t say enough great things about his fellow actors during our interview.

Watching the three assholes taking advantage of and torture the elderly couple was not easy. But it is successful by triggering an emotional reactional from viewers. When the couple reveals their true selves it’s a shock that will leave you floored.

This film is brutal, tense, and will leave you feeling uneasy, but that’s what horror is all about. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen next the rug is pulled out from under you and you’re left saying, “What the fuck?” This film has more twists than Babusar Pass, but somehow director Julius Berg pulls it all off seamlessly.

If you’re a gorehound The Owners will make you happy. If you’re into psychological horror, this film is for you. It’s everything a horror film should be.  The Owners has something for every horror fan. While there’s not actually any grotesque monsters lurking in the shadows, there’s something more horrifying, what humans are willing to do to each other for shits and giggles and personal gain. WE ARE THE REAL MONSTERS.

Let’s be honest, when a big film is promoted to the hilt you’re often left disappointed after watching it, that’s not the case with The Owners. It really is as good as they say it is. That’s why I’m giving it a 5 out of 5. You’ll find no complaints here. It has Horror Fuel’s stamp of approval.

The Owners lands in theaters as well as On Demand and Digital on September 4, 2020, from RLJE Films. Grab a bag of popcorn and a supersized soda, get cozy and watch it tonight!
