It’s October and that means it’s time to get into the spirit of the season, and obviously nothing gets you into the Halloween mood better than horror. Unfortunately when it comes to most live-action horror films, there’s only so much that can be done and shown, but thankfully of all things, Anime can cross the line with story, gore, and intriguing storytelling. So for every day this month, I’ll be featuring a unique Anime that fits the horror genre that you can most likely find on any streaming service. Let’s grant wishes with xxxHOLIC.
xxxHOLIC (2006) follows the story of a teenage boy who has the ability to see demons and ghosts that makes his social life non-existent. The boy then goes to a shop where you can have wishes granted as long as what you can pay matches the price of the wish. For his wish to lose his ability he must be the mysterious shopkeeper’s cook and errand boy, as a result, the shopkeeper has him help with client’s cases.
There are two seasons of xxxHOLIC but when it comes to this article I’m talking in reference to the first season that has 24 episodes. The mix of supernatural elements along with comedic moments pairs nicely in this misadventure.
