We reported a while back that George Miller has been working on co-writing a Mad Max spinoff based on Imperator Furiosa, the character played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road, that he will also direct. The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Anya Taylor Joy (The New Mutants) has officially been cast in the lead role in the movie titled Furiosa.
The Avengers actor Chis Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul0-Mateen II of Candyman will also star in the movie that will reveal the origin story of the title character.
Mad Max: Fury Road grossed a massive $400 million worldwide at the box office and won not one, but six Oscars, leaving viewers and critics alike blown away. This is not the last we’ll see of the Mad Max world. Miller already has plans to make a sequel based on the character played by Tom Hardy.
