A few days ago we reported that Elijah Wood had supposedly joined the cast of the new Toxic Avenger movie, today we have more casting news. Kevin Bacon (Tremors, Footloose, You Should Have Left) has also joined the cast of the remake and will play the role of the movie’s main villain, THR reports.

Bacon will star alongside Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”),  Jacob Tremblay (The Predator), and Taylour Paige (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) in the movie written and directed by Macon Blair, who also wrote and directed I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore.

In the 1984 original from Troma, “The Toxic Avenger is born when meek mop boy Melvin falls into a vat of toxic waste. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose.”

The new version is being described as “A contemporary reimagining of Troma Entertainment’s successful 1984 low-budget action-comedy hit, The Toxic Avenger is steeped in environmental themes and subverts the superhero genre in the vein of Deadpool. When a struggling everyman is pushed into a vat of toxic waste, he is transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends, and his community from the forces of corruption and greed.”
