The comic book series ‘Dylan Dog’ was adapted into feature film back in 2010 under the title ‘Dylan Dog: Dead of Night’, starring Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) as Dylan. The film was released without much buzz, but turned out to be pretty good.
Now, Italian horror writer Tiziano Scalavi, who was behind the genre classic ‘Cemetery Man’, is bringing ‘Dylan Dog’ to life in a new independent series.
The film follows “Dylan”, a man who investigates paranormal and supernatural cases. The upcoming series will follow the tracks as the movie, according to Bloody-Disgusting.
The pilot episode, titled “Dream of the Living Dead”, will be directed by Kevin Kopacka (Everyonce), off of the script he co-wrote with Alex Bakshaev.
We’ve finished shooting the pilot and are currently in post production. Hopefully we’ll get to release it around March 2017. Expect it to be a mixture of the Dylan comics “L’alba dei morti viventi” and “Morgana” with nods to Italian classic horror movies such as “Dellamorte Dellamore”, “Zombi” and “Burial Ground”. It will be very atmospheric, artistic and (hopefully even) scary but still with comedic elements.
There is no word yet which network or service will air the dark horror-comedy series. When we know more we will give you an update. In the meantime check out the first teaser trailer for the ‘Dylan Dog’ series and the trailer from the 2010 film, which will give you an idea of what you can expect.
