Many actors and actress get their start at a young age. That is the case with young actress and dancer Addisyn Wallace. Wallace recently made her feature debut with Glenn Douglas Packard‘s slasher film ‘Pitchfork‘. Addisyn and I sat down to talk about her role, her background as a dancer, and what she hopes the future will bring.

Horror Fuel: “In Pitchfork you play the role of Jenny, can you tell us a little about her?”

AW : “Jenny is twelve-years-old, she’s a farmers girl, she’s like an animal whisperer, and she loves her family. She’s really a daddy’s girl. She’s a really strong girl, independent, she can do things on her own. I really love Jenny.”

Horror Fuel: “Did you like working with the horse?”

AW : “At first I was really timid, a little scared, but then Glenn’s dad let me ride the horse and I got really comfortable. Horses are so loving. I actually want to do lessons now.”

Horror Fuel: “Were you nervous about Pitchfork, with it being your first horror movie?”

AW: “I was really nervous at the beginning. I just wanted to make it as perfect as I could. I get really nervous about things, but when I got there it felt so natural. Everyone was so nice, they helped me through it. I really got better with my acting while doing this.”

Horror Fuel: “You did a great job.”

AW : Thank you. It was my first film, so I was just really nervous. I didn’t know if I would do it right, but the cast helped me a lot with it. I loved that. They gave me so much knowledge. I was really grateful for the opportunity.”

Horror Fuel: “Glenn told me that while he was writing Pitchfork he wrote the character Jenny with you in mind.”

AW: “Glenn teaches at my mom’s studio and I’ve always taken classes from him. When I heard he was doing a horror film and that he wanted me to audition, I was so excited. I was like, “Oh my god, what is going to happen? And when I got it, I wouldn’t have been in it if I wouldn’t have known him from dancing.”

Horror Fuel: “What was your favorite part of filming?”

AW: “My favorite part of filming was when we would all get in character and focus and get all our makeup on or get all dirty. Then we would film all night long. I didn’t want it to end. I loved portraying the character. I loved that.”

Horror Fuel: “Are you going to keep pursuing acting?”

AW: “Oh, yeah. When I move to California, I’m going to focus on dancing and acting. This is my dream. I’ve always wanted to act. I am so glad that I finally got to do it. I want to do more. I loved the experience.”

Horror Fuel: “Do you have anything you are working on now?”

AW: “No, right now I am focusing on dancing. There aren’t a lot of acting jobs where I am living right now. When I move to California I am going to focus on acting. Right now I’m taking acting lessons so that I can get better.”

Horror Fuel: “If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? You look so young in the film.”

AW: “I’m 16. I hope Glenn will put me in the sequel. I’m about to get my braces off, so I will look a little older. Jenny was 12 in the movie I think. I can play younger and older roles.”

Horror Fuel: “If you wanted to tell other young ladies something about acting, what would you tell them?”

AW: “I would tell them not to be nervous and to be themselves. You have to be real. You know? You have to love what you are doing. If you love it, you will push yourself.”

Horror Fuel: “Tell me about your dancing.”

AW: “I do ballet, tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary. I also dance at school which is more modern. I was just in California and did mainly Hip Hop and Contemporary. I did this audition in Detroit and was a backup dancer for this girl, Sophie Kay. That was a really good experience. I go to a lot of dancing conventions and am an assistant at a lot of them. It was hard to get to that. I’m glad I pushed myself to do that.”

Keep an eye out for Addisyn, I think we are going to see great things from her in the future. At the age of 16 she has already accomplished a lot. Be sure to see her in action in ‘Pitchfork‘. She’s fantastic in it.
