Amid whitewashing controversy of his casting as asian comic book character Major Ben Daimo, Ed Skrein has departed the upcoming R rated reboot Hellboy reboot.

Hollywood has had a rough history with the casting of white actors in non-white roles, and while I like Skrein as an actor (most notably in The Transporter reboot and Deadpool) I can applaud his decision to step down. Although I wouldn’t put it past Hollywood to cast another white actor in his stead. Seriously, guys, there’s plenty of Asian badasses out there who would rock the part. Not that was ever likely to see it….
