The Shining (1980)

While most of the film has nothing to do with the 4th of July, there is one scene that ties it to the holiday. If you look closely at the picture that shows Jack Nicholson’s image in a crowded photo you will see that the picture is labeled as being taken at a 4th of July celebration which is enough to land the classic on this list.

Final Destination 3 (2006)

After several friends are claimed by death the survivors run into each other at a 4th of July celebration where all hell breaks loose. The third installment of the franchise is filled with great kills.

Uncle Sam (1996)

You won’t find a more stirring speech than the one in Independence Day given by Bill Pullman’s character as pilots ready to go head to head with invading aliens on the 4th of July.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

A year after four friends accidentally killed a man and hid his body during a night of drinking on the 4th of July, the college students begin getting letters with a clear message, “I know what you did last summer.”

2001 Maniacs (2005)

After taking a detour a group of people end up in a small redneck town run by Robert Englund’s character Mayor Buckman and Granny Boone, played by Lin Shaye. Not only are the residents of the town, that seems frozen in time, friendly, they’re also hungry. This movie is bloody awesome. “Let the celebration begin!”

The Entire Purge Franchise belongs on this list as well.

Happy 4th of July folks!
