The cast of Neil Marshall’s Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen is beginning to take shape. Last week, it was announced that ‘American Gods’ actor Ian McShane had signed for the film featuring David Harbour as Hellboy.
Today, we have more casting news. It has now been revealed that Milla Jovovich has been cast as the villain of the film, the Red Queen. Jovovich has long played Alice, the hero of the long running Resident Evil franchise whose last sequel, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, opened in theaters this past January. It is an interesting coincidence that Jovovich came face to face with the A.I. that ran by the Umbrella Corporation’s tasks in Resident Evil, its name, the Red Queen. The two queens are not connected in the film world, they simply have the same name.

In Rise of the Red Queen, Hellboy will face off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind.
The film which is aiming to begin filming this fall, was penned by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Mike Mignola.
