The trend of horror remakes is far from over, in fact, it is continuing to grow (sigh). The next genre film to be added to the long list of remakes, reboots, and revamps is the remake of 1978’s Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
Kent Nicholas is directing from the script that he penned with Douglas Sarine. Currently the film is development and will be produced by M. Dal Walton III, according to Movie Insider.
In the original, directed by John De Bello, a group of scientists banded together to save the world from mutant killers tomatoes.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes spawned three sequels and an animated series that ran from 1990 to 1991. Part horror, part comedy, and part musical, the film is truly a classic. Here’s the original trailer. If you haven’t seen the movie, I recommend that you do so immediately.
