Stephen King has ruled 2017 with adaptions of IT, The Mist, The Dark Towers, Firestarter, and Castle Rock being announced. AT&T has also added Mr. Mercedes to that list and have now released the trailer.

Directed by Jack Bender and penned by David E. Kelley, the series stars Brendan Gleeson as Bill Hodges, a detective past his prime who jumps back into the action when a psychopathic killer from a cold case, the only one he couldn’t close, re-emerges and mocks the former detective. The case involves a villain wearing a clown mask driving a stolen Mercedes mowed down a group of innocent people.
Old wounds are re-opened when Bill begins to receive strange letters, videos, and emails marked with a wicked smiley face from the “Mercedes Killer” aka Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway), a computer store clerk who works part time as an ice cream man and has an incestuous relationship with his mother (Kelly Lynch).

Jharrel Jerome, Ed Anderson, Mary-Louis Parker, Justine Lupe, Ann Cusack, Rob Niter, Ziggy Bender, David Furr, Scott Lawrence, and Holland Taylor co-star. King serves as executive producer for the series alongside David E. Kelley and Jack Bender.
Mr. Mercedes will premiere on the Audience Network, available to DirecTV subscribers, on August 9, 2017 at 8pm (ET).
