One of the best series to premiere this year was Tom Hardy’s Taboo on FXThe dark series with supernatural aspects, written by Hardy and Steven Knight, won’t be sticking around past it’s welcome.
Knight, who also writes the hit series Peaky Blinders, told HuffPostUK that the series will be “three series and out’.

I can feel three acts. The first was ‘the escape’. The second will be ‘the journey’ and the third will be ‘the arrival’, and that’ll be it.” Knight explains.”I don’t think the story will be what viewers are expecting, but hopefully they’ll enjoy it.”

The series has already been renewed for it’s second season which follows James Delaney (Hardy) as he leaves London for the “New World”. According to Knight the violence and dark themes will continue in the upcoming season.

It’s not simple violence,” Knight told the site. “It’s dealing with a time when violence was much more acceptance, plus this kind of drama is about extreme situations, when behavior is pushed beyond the borders of normal.”

Hardy’s portrayal of James Delaney is incredible. The character is mysterious man who returns to London after his father’s death to learn that he has inherited a coveted piece of land in America that is desired by the East India Company who will go to extreme lengths to obtain it. But they have never met a man like Delaney. Set in 1814, the series deals with death, murder, conspiracy, slavery, and a time when one company can control justice.

While it is sad that such an incredible series will only have two more seasons, you have to respect the fact that they do not want stay past their welcome and end on a high note. More series need to follow their example (AMC I’m talking to you).
