Puppet Master fans, hold on to your seats, were getting a new Puppet Master film from the man behind Bone Tomahawk. Full Moon Entertainment and Charles Band are teaming up to raise the franchise to breathe new life into the franchise.

From the Press Release:

Di Bonaventura Pictures (1408, Transformers) and Caliber Media (Dark Was the Night, Some Kind of Hate) partnered up to option the right to develop a brand new take on Charles Band’s cult classic horror film franchise Puppet Master. With the intention to produce multiple storylines within this new universe, the producers have set S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk) to write the first script, entitled Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, and expand the mythology, and the director’s search is quietly under way.

The film, produced by Loerenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian for di Bonaventura Pictures alongside Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller for Caliber Media, will have Charles Band as executive producer. The project was announced by Sonnier and Band this past weekend at the Texas Frightmare Weekend, presented by Fangoria.

We couldn’t be more excited to take the series in a new direction while embracing all the practical effects and terrifying insanity that fans of the Puppet Master films love.” Heller stated.

The Littlest Reich centers on a young man who discovers a mint condition Blade doll while cleaning out his deceased brother’s closet. The man has plans to sell the doll at a toy convention on the 30th anniversary of the Toulon murders. All hell breaks loose at the lodge during an auction when a mysterious force brings to life all of the dolls and they set out on a killing spree.

Band’s 1989 classic was co-written by Kenneth J. Hall and directed by David Schmoeller. Who could forget the franchise’s living puppets such as Blade, Pinhead, Jester, Torch, Leech Woman, Six Shooter and Tunneler? I look forward to seeing how the new film will handle such iconic characters.
