The Disney attraction ‘ The Tower of Terror’, originally based an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’, is getting it’s own film. This is not the first time the subject has come up at Disney headquarters. A movie has been discussed in the past, but was dropped until screenwriter John August, who has worked with Tim Burton several times in the past, pitched the idea again to Disney and they said yes. August will not be writing the script. Right now the writer has not been announced. Jim Whitaker, the man behind ‘American Gangster’ and ‘Robin Hood’, will be producing the film under the banner of his company Whitaker Entertainment.
The story goes that back in 1939 the Hollywood Tower Hotel was once a stop for the rich and famous. The hotel was closed and boarded up when five guests mysteriously disappeared. Now for the first time, visitors can explore the haunted decaying hotel. Enter the elevator that stops on the thirteenth floor where ghosts walk the halls. Then once again you board the giant elevator. Just as you think all is well, the elevator plummets mimicking a near disaster.
