‘The House of Screaming Death’ is an indie horror anthology, reminiscent of the Gothic horror films of the 1970’s. The film is narrated by a mysterious stranger, known only as “The Architect” and is seperated into four eerie tales. Each segment is introduced by The Architect in front of an audience gathered in an old house on a stormy night. ‘The Architect’ sections of the movie were written and directed by Kaush Patel.

The first of the four tales revolves around a WII veteran, haunted by ghosts of his past and a house with a long history of tragedy. Troy Dennison wrote and directed this tale, titled ‘The Lady In Grey’.

The second story focuses on a house in the 1970’s that has been cursed by witchcraft. When Lilly inherits the house from her odd uncle, who has left instructions to never try to open the doors that are locked. There are dark entities that are trapped within that are trying to find a door or a mirror to use as a portal to escape into the world. This tale of terror, ‘The Witch in the Mirror’ was directed by Rebcca Harris-Smith.

The next segment, titled ‘The Vampyre’, was written and directed by David Hastings. The tale goes back to 1888. Thomas Burlington comes to stay in the now abandoned house. The nearby villagers are living in fear of the creature that stalks them in the night.

The last of the horrific tales, ‘Diablique’, written and directed by Alex Bourne, is that of a woman named Marntine. Marntine is in search of her brother Fredrick, who vanished months earlier. Her investigation has led her to a house. The home’s owner’s nephew Sam lends a hand to her search, Strange events and signs lead the two to an ancient cult and a dark event that has been planned for centuries.

In the end, one thing connects all of the segments, ‘The House of the Screaming Death’. Many of the people involved with this film were also involved with the indie ‘Checking In’ that recently won ‘Best British Film’ at the London Film Awards.
