Back in 2014, two 12-year-old Milwaukee girls committed an unthinkable crime that rocked the nation. The girls stabbed their friend Payton Geyser 19 times after luring her into woods. The victim somehow found the strength to drag herself onto a bicycle path where a passing bicyclist found her. Luckily, Geyser survived the ordeal. The reason the girls gave for committing the heinous act, they did it to win favor with the character Slender Man, a figure who was born in a Creepypasta story by Eric Knudsen.
After 3 years one of the girls, Anissa Weier, has finally had her day in court where she plead guilty to attempted second-degree intentional homicide. The verdict came down that Weier will avoid prison. Instead, she will be committed to a mental hospital where she will wait out her 3-year sentence. Both girls have been diagnosed with Shared Delusional Disorder.

Weier’s partner-in-crime Morgan Geyser has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disorder on the charge of being party to first-degree attempted intentional homicide, according to CBS News. Her trial is set to begin on October 9, 2017.
