HBO’s True Blood, the loose adaption of Charlaine Harris’ novels, drew a horde of adoring fans. They will be happy to hear that now, True Blood’s spinoff series, titled Midnight, Texas, has been ordered by NBC. With The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Niels Arden Oplev directing from the script written by Monica Breen, producer for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

What is clear, according to Deadline, is that Midnight, Texas, while being closely tied to True Blood, will be different. The new show will stick closer to Harris’ novels. And of course, NBC will not be able to pull-off a TV-MA rating like HBO can. The two series will have some cross-over. Vampires, witches, werewolves and the supernatural will be central to the story of  Midnight, Texas.

The town of Midnight is a safe haven for all supernatural beings, as well as humans, fortune tellers and other outcasts. In the town your neighbor could be a vampire, a werewolf or even an angel.

Midnight, Texas stars Jason Lewis, Francois Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Joanne Camp, Parisa Fitz-Henley, John-Paul Howard, Bob Jesser, Arielle Kebbel, Shannon Lorance, Lora Martinez-Cunningham, Peter Mensah, Sarah Ramos, Kyle Pierson, Bernado Saracino, Kellee Stewart, and Tommy Truex. No exact release date has been announced yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it makes NBC’s Fall lineup.
