Pennywise, the dancing clown, is back. The first footage from the upcoming IT prequel series, “Welcome To Derry,” has been unveiled in MAX‘s what’s coming in 2024 and 2025 promo, “The One To Watch,” sending chills down spines and setting expectations sky-high.

The brief glimpse into the series promises a nostalgic trip back to the world of Stephen King. Kids on bikes, a small-town setting, and the ever-present threat of Pennywise evoke the same eerie atmosphere that captivated audiences in the original IT films and the mini-series.

“Welcome To Derry” takes us back to the 1960s. And serves as an origin story for Pennywise. This prequel will delve deeper into the fictional town’s history and its dark secrets, revealing events that led to Pennywise’s reign of terror.

One significant event likely explored in the series is the burning down of the Black Spot nightclub, a pivotal moment referenced in the novel. This tragedy holds a crucial connection to Pennywise and could provide answers to longstanding questions.

The series boasts an impressive ensemble cast new to the world of Stephen King. Stars include Jovan Adepo (“Watchmen”) and Chris Chalk (Godzilla vs Kong). Taylour Paige (Zola), Dexter‘s James Remar, Daredevil‘s Stephen Rider, and Madeleine Stowe (“12 Monkeys”) also star.

Welcome To Derry” has generated significant excitement among fans with its talented cast and promising atmosphere. Scheduled to premiere on Max in 2025, the series is a chilling exploration of Pennywise’s origins and the horrifying history that lurks beneath the surface of Derry.
