Prepare for another high-octane round of vehicular mayhem! Peacock has officially renewed its hit series “Twisted Metal”  for a second season! The announcement was made by the series’ star, Anthony Mackie, at The Game Awards 2023 that viewers will be getting another brutal season.

This news comes after the show’s record-breaking viewership as Peacock’s most-watched exclusive comedy series that premiered earlier this year. Fans of the twisted world and its metal-clad gladiators are buzzing about the series that currently holds an impressive audience ranking on Rotten Tomatoes of 94%. This writer personally loves the show, which is not only packed to the brim with action and comedy but also features a great story as well.

Showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith has expressed his gratitude to fans of the series, stating:

“I have to give a Sweet Tooth-sized thank you to our incredible fans – I read every comment and was so blown away by everyone’s love, support and rabid enthusiasm for a paper bag.”

He continued, expressing excitement for the future of the show:

“We are beyond thankful we get to continue the story of John Doe, Quiet and Sweet Tooth as they face off against familiar faces and new grim foes in the long-awaited Twisted Metal tournament. The mixtape is made, and I’m thrilled to get back on the road with our stellar cast and crew.”

Season two will further delve into the journey of John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a milkman with amnesia who embarks on the Twisted Metal competition for a chance at a better life. He’ll be joined by allies and adversaries, including his love interest “Quiet” (Stephanie Beatriz), the formidable “Sweet Tooth” (Samoa Joe, voiced by Will Arnett), and Scream star Neve Campbell, as they navigate the brutal arena of vehicular combat.

The game, first released in 1995, has appeared on various PlayStation consoles, including the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 3. By October 31, 2000, the series had already sold a staggering 5 million copies, making it one of the most popular gaming franchises ever released.

Get ready for more thrills, spills, kills, and unexpected twists as “Twisted Metal” revves its engine and readies to return to Peacock for its second season.
