Netflix’s upcoming three-part docuseries, “This Is the Zodiac Speaking,” promises to shed new light on the unsolved murder case of the Zodiac Killer.
From Ample Entertainment, the series features new interviews and explores fresh evidence. All of which point to Arthur Leigh Allen as the killer. Allen, a teacher and convicted sex offender, died in 1992 before he could be tried.
Scheduled to air later this October, the series is directed by Ari Mark and Phil Lott as they speak with a California family who knew Allen as a teacher and family friend. By examining archival and physical evidence owned by the family, they uncover additional connections between Allen and the Zodiac murders.
Inspired by David Fincher’s 2007 film Zodiac, the family began piecing together the evidence after watching the movie. Mark and Lott also worked closely with author Robert Graysmith, whose book served as the basis for the film. “We had access to him in a way nobody has had,” Mark said. “He really put this in perspective for us.”
The Zodiak Killer sent letters and ciphers to police and news outlets claiming that he took the lives of thirty-seven victims. Out of the four ciphers, only two have been solved. Mark and Lott also serve as executive producers of “This Is the Zodiac Speaking,” a title inspired by the killer’s signature opening line for every letter.
“This Is the Zodiac Speaking” premieres on Netflix on October 23. Want more? You can find more terrifying and disturbing true crime series and movies HERE.
