The 2000s saw the birth of the laugh-inducing Scary Movie franchise. The first installment brought in $42.5 million at boxoffices, making it one of the highest grossing films. The franchise features five films that made fun of our most cherished horror films as well as society.
We’ve got killer news for franchise fans: The Wayans Brothers, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans, are back! After 18 years they are returning with a new movie, Scary Movie 6, which they will direct, write, and produce in collaboration with Miramax and Paramount Pictures.
The franchise has poked fun at our most cherished horror films, from Scream to Paranormal Activity. It has turned horror on its head, giving us silly, unforgettable scenes like Regina Hall causing chaos in a theater in the original, Chris Elliot’s “strong hand,” which still produces memes, and the Wayans’ twist on the movie Saw.
There has been no word yet if franchise stars Anna Farris and Regina Hall will return. However, it has been confirmed the Marlon Wayans will be back.
