Netflix and The Duffer Brothers are teaming up once again. Following the success of “Stranger Things,” they are gearing up to bring us a new supernatural mystery series, “The Boroughs.”
The exciting new project has recently added several notable actors to its impressive cast. Scream Queen Dee Wallace (pictured), Ed Begley Jr., and Rafael Casal (“Loki”) have been added. Jane Kaczmarek (The Changeling), Eric Edelstein (“Twin Peaks”), and Mousa Hussein Kraish (“American Gods”) have boarded the cast as well, Variety reports. They join previously announced stars Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, and Bill Pullman.
“The Boroughs“ is set in a retirement community in the New Mexico desert. A group of unlikely heroes must unite to combat an otherworldly threat that threatens to steal time itself. This intriguing premise blends classic science fiction elements and horror with a touch of dark humor.
The series is created and showrun by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. Ben Taylor, known for his work on “Sex Education” and “Catastrophe,” will direct multiple episodes, including the pilot. The Duffer brothers will executive produce along with Hilary Leavitt under their Upside Down Pictures banner, currently under an overall deal with Netflix.
